This wallpaper deserves to be highlighted because of many reasons:
The fence looks so real and detailled that you can almost touch it. In many cases, wallers copy and paste similiar objects of the background (e.g. flowers). But this fence looks like it has been drawn stroke by stroke.
The colours and combination of highlights and shadows create a dark and mysterious atmosphere which suits the manga perfectly. I'm glad dolce-yasmin didn't stick to the original colours which wouldn't be as effective as the brown tone.
Not to forget the vector itself which is not only a huge improvement of the original scan, but also shows you dolce-yasmin's improvement of her vectoring skills!
Hello, thank you for the comment on my Bleach sketch ^^. About how i started drawing: since i didn't go to any art school that taught me how to specifically draw anime or manga i just started by myself. the first step was not drawing, but copying ^^ (i've never used so much tracing paper XD), i didn't even modify the image (maybe the mouths but only that).
After that i got more daring and started drawing things by myself, my first influence was Ranma, then Sailor Moon and so on, and my last inspiration is Bleach ^^. It's a lot of practice, I wasn't fortunate enough like most people younger than me (I started drawing in highschool, while most teens now started on their 9 years old). After that, I suggest you to search tutorials and start with the basics (my skills got much better after practising with them), i bought the first 3 books of "how to draw manga" but before that i was pretty much self-taught.
So, in short, just copy all you want ^^ (of course you can't claim you drew those pics) choose a style you really like and try to copy it (or trace the drawings of the manga with tracing paper or whatever) after a while you'll get better and then you can start drawing original fanart ^___^ And after another while you can start modifying the chosen style, in no time you will get your own original style ^^ (mix characteristics of various styles that you like)
Here you can find some pretty useful tutorials, although most of them are about digital art. just write tutorials on the "search" box and a bunch of stuff will appear.
